All seasons offer wonderful recreational activities right in our own back yard. We are only 30 minutes from Lake Huron, 90 minutes from Blue Mountain, and 90 minutes from the rugged beauty of the Bruce Peninsula.
Our community has hundreds of Rotarians, Kinsmen and Kinettes, Lions and Lionesses, Optimists, Masons and Knights of Columbus, Royal Canadian Legion members, who enjoy volunteering their time, skills and efforts towards making this area a better place to live, work and play. We have Big Brothers and Big Sisters, several Women’s Institutes, Guiding and Scouting leaders, and those who work with challenged children and adults. From the Dirt Pigs ball team to the South Bruce Grey Health Centre Walkerton Auxiliary Board, Brockton and South Bruce have a volunteer position for everyone.
Heritage preservation is an important part of the community, which is home to many historic sites including private residences, public and commercial buildings, and places of worship. Scattered along the countryside in hamlets such as Pinkerton and Cargill you’ll find historic mills, cemeteries, schoolhouses and homes.
